NEW DELHI: In another shocking incident, a lady doctor was allegedly attacked by two young boys on Tuesday morning in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area.
The incident was reported after two persons threw acid on the lady and fled the area around 9:20 AM this morning. No one came for help as the woman continued to shout for long.
According to the police who was informed by a local resident of the busy market place in Rajouri Garden after the incident, the youths came in the daring day light from behind on a motor bike and vanished within no time from the spot.
The attack has been captured in the CCTV installed in the market and the investigation by the police is on to identify the accused.
The victim, a resident of Hari Nagar is admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre and has sustained burn injuries on the right side of her face. The reason for the attack by the strangers is yet to be discovered.
The incident comes at a point where a big number of acid attack survivors are protesting at the Jantar Mantar area of Delhi against the lack of any safeguards and laws seeking their active treatment.
Following the incident, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote on his Twitter wall, “Shocked to know about an acid attack on a young lady doctor in Rajouri Garden. What is happening in Delhi ?”
