Rohtak shocker: SIT to probe rape, murder of a mentally challenged woman

Rohtak: A Special Investigative Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the rape and murder of the 28-year-old mentally challenged woman from Nepal in Rohtak, Haryana.

Victim's body was found in a decomposed state without key organs on Wednesday. Police say sticks, stones and condoms were stuffed into her private parts.

The post-mortem report of the woman said mentioned several injuries on her private parts.

Police said the woman belonged to Vardia district of Nepal. She was undergoing treatment in Haldwani and came to Rohtak a few months back to visit her sister.
Police have already lodged a case under different sections of IPC, including murder, rape and unnatural sexual act and destruction of evidence against unknown people.
Meanwhile, civil society members from the city took out a candle light vigil to demand justice.

No arrest has been made in the case so far, but the Police say they are investigating the case and will catch the guilty soon.

The police on Saturday also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to whoever gives information related to the case.
